Safe at Sea has applied for this funding for sustainable growth research efforts, with the aim of developing a new electric and fossil-free powertrain, called ElEcoRunner. The criteria for the funding are that the project will provide the company with new scientific knowledge and skills to develop products, services and processes, which will provide clear competitive advantages, for example as increased market shares, improved price/performance against competitors, strengthened intangible assets and/or lower manufacturing cost. The research efforts must be based on market needs.

The grant has been preceded by a longer process with application documents and interviews where the project and its potential have been assessed in relation to other applicants.

The grant from Region Västra Götaland is SEK 500 000 and Safe at Sea AB will invest the same amount in the project.
