The exploration company Lappland Guldprospektering has submitted an application for a permit regarding test mining at Stortjärnhobben, according to a press release.The company hopes to start test mining of 10,000 tons of rock at Stortjärnhobben by autumn 2026, provided that a permit is granted.The purpose of the planned test mining is to obtain more detailed knowledge about the identified gold deposit’s quality, extent, and volume. "Test mining enables a reliable assessment of the average gold grade and provides increased understanding of how the gold-mineralized zones extend in the bedrock. This information is crucial for carrying out a technical and economic evaluation of future mining operations," the company writes.
