Research company Hamlet Biopharma has signed an agreement with the University of Iowa to expand the clinical development of Alpha1H, a treatment for bladder cancer based on substances from breast milk. The new study also includes Carcinoma In Situ (CIS), an aggressive and treatment-resistant form of non-muscle-invasive bladder cancer in which patients in some cases need to have the bladder removed to avoid metastatic disease. The study is planned to be carried out under the company's existing IND approval in the U.S. after a protocol amendment to the FDA.
