The exploration company Beowulf’s subsidiary Jokkmokk Iron has, together with partners, been awarded conditional support of 1.1 million euros from EIT RawMaterials for the innovation project NordicPipe, with a total budget of 2.4 million euros. The two-year project aims to develop a long-distance slurry pipeline for the transport of iron ore in the Nordic region, with a focus on technical, environmental and social conditions. The goal is to establish a sustainable transport solution in the form of a pipeline that reduces the impact on infrastructure and the environment and strengthens Europe’s raw materials supply. The consortium is led by Jokkmokk Iron and includes, among others, Sweco Sverige, Luleå tekniska universitet and Paterson & Cooke. The support is subject to conditions, including a final project agreement and a repayment mechanism corresponding to 50 percent of the funding upon commercialization.Beowulf Mining’s CEO Ed Bowie states that the funding enables the work on the pipeline solution to be "materially advanced" ahead of permitting and implementation.
