BPC Instruments AB: BPC Instruments has been granted a European patent for its core analytical technology in the biogas field

BPC Instruments AB ("BPC" or "the Company") has received a grant from the European Patent Office regarding the Company’s core analytical technology in feedstock quality analysis for biogas production. The patent "System setup for biological methane potential test" provides intellectual property protection to one of the Company’s flagship products – AMPTS® – which is well recognized in the biogas business sector worldwide.

The AMPTS® (Automatic Methane Potential Test System) II is an analytical tool used by scientists and engineers for conducting various anaerobic batch fermentation tests. This includes performing, with up to 15 or 6 test vials, biochemical methane potential (BMP) tests, specific methanogenic activity (SMA) assays, as well as conducting residual gas potential (RGP) analyses on digested slurry. All of this is performed with easy access to sampling, analysis, recording and report generation; fully integrated and automated. Two patent applications for AMPTS® core technologies have been filed and granted one by one during the past years in the EU, US, China and India, with regards to various patent procedures and duration for each national filing stage. The granting decision from the European Patent Office is expected to be the last one. The patent titled "System setup for biological methane potential test" has been given patent number No. 19 162 072.3 and will be valid through 2030.

CEO Dr. Jing Liu comments

"I am very delighted about the granting decision of our core analytical technology for AMPTS® from the European Patent Office. The granted patent will provide BPC with strong IP protection for our flagship product in the biogas sector. This is important since we see excellent business opportunities and increased market potential as the latest development trend of long-term investment plans and policies support biogas. The development of boosting biogas/biomethane production can certainly reduce the EU member states’ dependence on imports of fossil natural gas and contribution to achieving climate and environmental goals."
